As 2023 approaches its final day, the prevalence of infoglut looms large, driven by the ubiquity of social media and digitization. Despite the numerous merits associated with this digital age, including digital transformation, digitalization, automation, and AI, discerning valuable information amid the myriad presented on our screens has become increasingly challenging. In 2023, SEAMEO STEM-ED has woven a tapestry of domestic, regional, and global partnerships, creating a stronger movement to elevate Southeast Asian STEM education. On March 10, 2023, SEAMEO STEM-ED, Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd., and the Ministry of Education (MOE) orchestrated a landmark event, the "STEM Fair and Expo 2023," elevating Southeast Asian STEM education to global standards. The collective belief in the boundless potential of youth, anchored in STEM education, unites these allies. Driven by a commitment to discovery, the three agencies contributed resources, expertise, and time to ensure Southeast Asian talents flourish in the coming decade.

At the closing ceremony of the "STEM Fair and Expo 2023" on March 10, 2023, thirty Southeast Asian teams received a prestigious $300 prize, accompanied by an overwhelming sense of pride captured through the lens of policymakers. The collaborative event, orchestrated by SEAMEO STEM-ED, Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd., and the Ministry of Education (MOE), drew 400 participants, including government agencies, policymakers, educators, and students.
The STEM Project Showcase, a culmination of the STEM Project Competition, featured over 300 projects from Southeast Asian teams. Thirty winners were carefully chosen to present their innovative solutions in three main areas: addressing challenges in everyday life, industries, and the community & school.

The dedication of SEAMEO STEM-ED, Chevron, and MOE, coupled with the remarkable efforts of Southeast Asian students, showcased the region's commitment to advancing STEM education and finding innovative solutions to real-world challenges. The awards ceremony was a moment of pride and achievement for the youth, witnessed by SEAMEO STEM-ED Director Dr. Kritsachai Somsaman, Chevron President Chatit Huayhongtong, and MOE Deputy Minister H.E. Dr. Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich.

On June 28, 2023, SEAMEO STEM-ED concluded its virtual workshop, the "3rd Policy Forum on STEM Education." The series aimed to unite Southeast Asian policymakers, researchers, scholars, and organizations to craft effective STEM policies and exchange practices. Datuk Dr. Habibah Abdul Rahim, SEAMES Director, emphasized STEM education's significance in steering Southeast Asia toward economic growth. SEAMEO STEM-ED Director, Dr. Kritsachai Somsaman, highlighted STEM's necessity for shaping the future workforce through effective communication and innovative strategies.

The forum featured a panel discussion with insights from Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Hong Kong, stressing the interdisciplinary and adaptable nature of STEM education. As the event closed, Dr. Somsaman outlined key points for the future, emphasizing the evolving definition of STEM, data collection, industry involvement, and the importance of STEM adaptation in regional collaboration.

From May 1 to May 3, 2023, SEAMEO STEM-ED Director, Dr. Kritsachai Somsaman, shared valuable insights with Master’s and PhD students on leveraging "communication research" for impactful messaging at Phusakthan Resort, Nakhon Nayok. Communication research delves into systematic procedures to uncover compelling answers to specific questions, identifying patterns in communication behavior. Dr. Somsaman, an expert in communication, emphasized employing innovative strategies to make research more impactful in today's technology-driven world. SEAMEO STEM-ED Research and Evaluation Manager, Asst Prof Yaowalak Jittakoat, discussed collaborative opportunities for university students and institutions to pioneer education through research. The event drew 34 students from Khon Kaen University and faculty members from Srinakharinwirot University and Chulalongkorn University.
