
On 23 August 2026, SEAMEO STEM-ED welcomed five outstanding STEM Star Teachers from Malaysia embarked on an inspiring study visit organised by the SEAMEO STEM-ED in partnership with National STEM Association Malaysia and Mahidol University.
As part of their learning and exchange activities, they had the opportunity to visit Futurium – the Future Innovation Centre of the National Science Museum (NSM) and the Thailand National Science and Technology Fair (NST Fair 2026).
Futurium offers an inspiring, hands-on learning environment where visitors can explore emerging innovations—from robotics and smart agriculture to alternative energy, biotechnology, space and aviation—and discover future STEM careers. More than showcasing technology, Futurium encourages learners to imagine the future and see themselves as creators of innovation.
At the NST Fair 2026, they explored a wide range of interactive exhibitions, science activities, and learning experiences under the theme “Intelligence in Science for a Sustainable Future.” The fair demonstrates how science, technology, and innovation can be brought to life through engaging experiences that inspire curiosity and connect learning to real-world challenges.
For STEM educators, these experiences offer valuable insights into how informal learning spaces, interactive exhibits, and experiential learning can complement classroom education and inspire the next generation of STEM learners.
On 24 August 2026, the delegation continued their study visit. Led by Dr Kessara Amornvuitivorn, SEAMEO STEM-ED Centre Director, the delegation explored cutting-edge educational practices at Sang Arun School and Mahidol University’s Institute for Innovative Learning.
Highlights of the Day:
Student Innovation in Action: At Sangaroon School, Nakhon Pathom Province, the visitors saw firsthand how Grade 6 students use AI to manage duck farming—a project that earned the prestigious "Best of the Best Award" at DEPA’s Coding Thailand 2026.
Empowering STEM Classrooms: In an afternoon knowledge-sharing session, the Malaysian teachers showcased strategies for driving student impact, leadership, community engagement, and sustainability through STEM. Their core takeaway -- STEM learning is most powerful when rooted in real-world, everyday problems starting at home.
AI-Enhanced Learning with FloAino: Educators from both Malaysia and Thailand—including virtual guest science Thai teachers—exchanged insights on using FloAino, an AI learning platform developed by Assoc Prof Dr Panrasee Ritthipravat from Mahidol University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering. Teachers unanimously agreed that FloAino makes STEM concepts significantly more engaging, accessible, and fun for students.
