9th SEAMEO STEM-ED Governing Board Meeting Advances Regional Priorities for STEM Education
The 9th Governing Board Meeting of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for STEM Education (SEAMEO STEM-ED) convened on 29 September 2026 at Pathumwan Princess Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand, bringing together Governing Board Members and representatives from SEAMEO Member Countries for an annual reflection on the Centre’s achievements and a discussion of its strategic direction.
The meeting provided an important platform to reflect on SEAMEO STEM-ED’s achievements in FY 2025/2026, with attention to the broader progress and impact of the Centre’s work. Major developments and priorities across the Centre’s programmes and initiatives were presented for the Board’s consideration and endorsement, supporting continued alignment with regional education priorities.
The meeting also marked a transition in the leadership of the Governing Board, with the nomination and election of the new Governing Board Chair and Vice-Chair.
SEAMEO STEM-ED warmly congratulates Prof Dr Sukit Limpijumnong, President of National Science and Technology Development Agency, Thailand, on being elected as the Governing Board Chair, and Dr Irsyad Zamjani, Head, Center for Education Standards and Policy, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Indonesia, as Vice-Chair. Their leadership will contribute to strengthening regional cooperation and supporting the Centre’s continued work in responding to evolving priorities in STEM education.

It captures a year of partnership, progress, and impact, highlighting the Centre’s key developments, partnerships, and contributions throughout the fiscal year.
