
SEAMEO STEM-ED and the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University officially launched a new partnership on 30 June 2026 at the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus, Nakhon Pathom, Thailand. The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Partnership Agreement by Dr Kessara Amornvuthivorn, Centre Director of SEAMEO STEM-ED, and Assoc Prof Dr Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening STEM education and preparing learners with the knowledge and skills needed for the future.
The collaboration will focus on developing micro-credential systems through project-based learning, strengthening industry linkages to connect education with real-world experience, and expanding STEM learning opportunities to local schools to promote more equitable access to quality education. Together, both institutions will also explore initiatives that foster innovation, capacity building, and future-ready competencies for learners across Thailand and the Southeast Asian region.
The partnership will kick off with the implementation of the FOCAL Initiative (Future-Oriented Classroom for AI Literacy) as its first collaborative programme, supporting AI integration in teaching and learning while equipping students with AI literacy, future-ready skills, and leadership opportunities through innovative and scalable learning models across the region.
This partnership marks a shared commitment to advancing STEM education, fostering innovation, and empowering the next generation of learners to drive sustainable development across Southeast Asia.
