10 March 2023 ─ VEX Robotics, who over the years partnered with SEAMEO STEM-ED to ensure the flourishing of Southeast Asia’s STEM education attended SEAMEO STEM-ED’s STEM Fair and Expo 2023 ─ there, Andy Lee, President of IFI HK Ltd., (parent company of VEX Robotics) affirmed his vision in establishing everlasting impact for regional STEM education.

At the STEM Fair and Expo 2023, Mr. Lee represented VEX Robotics and Innovation First in showcasing their innovative technologies ─ and connecting with policymakers said ─ they are committed to creating a strong ecosystem at all levels for STEM education.

“We are determined to work with policy thought leaders and educators, so we can assist in implementing impact at scale,” Mr. Lee highlighted.

Pointing out the essence of STEM education, which is a multitude of integration of subjects, Mr. Lee said an ecosystem he is establishing comprised of networking with all levels of stakeholders (students, educators, policymakers, and businesses).

For students, Mr. Lee underlined, “What we are trying to do here is make a connection between students, their careers and education pathways ─ as well as industries.”

Another strong emphasis VEX Robotics demonstrated is the belief in educators’ development, in this matter he pointed, “teacher certification programs are available for educators to gain more confidence and elevate their skills and capabilities.”

One solution VEX Robotics initiated that responds to making STEM education more efficient and enjoyable is through “VEX Continuum”, an entire K-12 solution designed for educators consisting of seven VEX platforms. The Continuum is grounded in a continuity of resources, curriculum, and materials ─ so that teachers and students can build upon their STEM learning from year to year.

“Our ecosystem consists of 5 pillars which are educator certification, standards-aligned curriculum educational robotics hardware, programming software, and the world's largest robotics competition, Mr. Lee explained.

For the next step, Mr. Lee will continue his work to enhance Southeast Asian STEM education and pioneer educators’ development through VEX’s innovative technologies. He will also host different workshops (across Southeast Asia) and bring students to global competitions in the near future.
