The INSPIRE Programme was established through a strategic partnership between SEAMEO STEM-ED and SkillUp to strengthen the connection between STEM education and the evolving needs of the regional workforce. As Southeast Asia undergoes rapid digital transformation, many learners remain unaware of emerging career opportunities and the education, skills, and certifications required to pursue them. At the same time, employers continue to report increasing demand for future-ready competencies, including digital literacy, problem-solving, and applied STEM skills.
The programme addresses this gap by creating meaningful pathways from classroom learning to career readiness through industry engagement, hands-on STEM experiences, and access to recognised learning and certification opportunities. By bringing together education institutions, industry partners, and government stakeholders, INSPIRE empowers young people to explore emerging careers, understand workforce expectations, and develop the competencies needed to thrive in high-growth sectors such as Information Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Smart AgriTech, and Healthcare Innovation.
SEAMEO STEM-ED has taken the first major step in implementing the INSPIRE Programme through the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SkillUp Group Limited. The agreement formalises the partnership and establishes a shared commitment to expanding career-connected STEM learning, strengthening industry engagement, and equipping learners with future-ready competencies aligned with emerging workforce needs across Southeast Asia.
The collaboration also sets the foundation for the INSPIRE Futures Festival—a multi-city initiative that will connect students with industry professionals, universities, and employers through interactive career showcases, STEM experiences, and guidance on education, certification, and career pathways in high-growth sectors. The signing marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration to bridge education and industry while preparing the next generation for the opportunities of the future.
